President – Egzon Gashi
Hey guys, my name is Egzon Gashi and I am a senior in the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program. I am a double major in Political Science and European Studies. I have been involved with Model UN since my freshman year in high school and my interest has continued into college. As a transfer student from Uconn, I immediately wanted to immerse myself in what Rutgers had to offer. RUAIR was the ideal organization for me to join. During my first year here, Rutgers had by far its most successful year in terms of winning both individual and team awards at different conferences around the country. My main goals as president are to continue and hopefully surpass the success we had last year as well as recruit new members to our team. I have personally noticed that as our team has expanded, new friendships have been created and our team has strengthened as a whole.
My interest in International Relations stems from the fact that I was born in the Republic of Kosova, a tiny country in South-Eastern Europe. I have always been fascinated by international relations because of Kosova and closely followed my home country as it achieved statehood. As I took IR courses and learned more about other countries, I realized just how unique every country is and how delicate the international arena really is. As an organization, I hope to have debates on many different issues facing the world today and want us, as students, to try and come up with our own solutions. The more I study IR, the more I find just how impractical many decisions in international relations really are. In other words, I think we can do better.
In addition to RUAIR, I am involved with many different things here on campus. I am a resident assistant on Busch and am currently involved in an internship called Euro Challenge (if you haven’t noticed already, I am obsessed with Europe). Furthermore, I am a tutor in the Livingston Writing Center and am working on an honors thesis.
On a more personal note, I have two passions: the New Jersey (Brooklyn) Nets basketball team and Coca-Cola. So if you want me to like you, buy me a coke can and take me to a Nets game. Once I realized that I wasn’t that good at basketball and that the Coca-Cola factory was all the way in Atlanta, I settled for Model UN. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in international relations. Overall, I just hope that this year (my last at Rutgers) will be a memorable one because of the friends I make during our weekly meetings and the trips that we take as a team.

Head Delegate - Advait Shukla
Hey my name is Advait Shukla and I am from Edison New Jersey. I am a junior in the SAS honors program and though I haven’t made up my mind on what majors to pursue I like to learn about everything from Keynesian economics to plastics engineering.
I initially joined Model United Nations in middle school to educate myself on world affairs and eventually put down on my college applications. However, I quickly learned that MUN is a different environment where one can meet people travelling down several different life paths and so I have been hooked on debating and connecting to people ever since.
To say that I have one particular “past-time” that I enjoy may not be possible but I do have several hobbies that I love to do. For instance, basketball has been a significant part of my childhood from being a die-hard Nets fan to captaining three intramural basketball teams at Rutgers. On that note I enjoy sports overall whether it be the English Premier League (Arsenal FC) or the National Football League (San Diego Chargers) do not hesitate to spark a conversation with me about any sporting league because chances are I have a favorite team in it. Besides sports I also relish technology, two years ago I built my desktop out of blackfriday deals and this past summer I have been learning how to use a mac.
Though I do not have any grand dreams for my future I do have a project I want to pursue and that is starting a nonprofit for a small village outside of Mumbai called Yennidnaghar. I visited Yennidnaghar during my trip to India last summer and though the place is not significant enough to be put on a map the locals are very efficient and intelligent.
That is pretty much Advait Shukla in a nutshell so please feel free to talk to me during meetings or around Rutgers.

Sivaram Cheruvu – Vice-President
Hello, my name is Sivaram (Siv) Cheruvu and I am the Vice President of the Association of International Relations for 2011- 2012. I have been a die hard international relations enthusiast and a model UN delegate since the 8th grade. I currently plan on double majoring in Political Science and History and am considering minoring in economics and French. Personally I never get tired of talking about international and domestic affairs as I love hearing the many different solutions to solve the problems of today's society.
Outside of RUAIR I am an avid sports fan with an interest particularly in Baseball, Basketball, Football, Tennis, and a little bit of soccer. When I'm not at RUAIR I am probably in front of a television set praying that the Nets will win a game and hoping that the Jets may one day reach the promised land. I also love meeting new people so if you happen to stop by an RUAIR meeting I would be happy to get to know who you are.
As the Vice President of RUAIR I play the role of utility man with the job of helping out the different Executive Board members when they are in need. First and foremost I am here for every member of the association of international relations. So if you have any questions regarding the club, how you can become involved, or you want to have a casual conversation come talk to me.

Vinamra Sawhney – Director of Communications
Hey guys, my name is Vin and I will be your director of communication for the 2011-12 school year. I am currently a junior in the Rutgers School of Business, majoring in Accounting and Management with a minor in Spanish. Model United Nations and International Affairs have been a big part of my life since High School and it’s become a huge part of my college career. The Association of International Relations is one of the few things that really matters to me at Rutgers. The people and experiences have really made me who I am.
Other than RUAIR, I am very involved in my Fraternity, Delta Kappa Epsilon, the Business School, and the Honors Program. I serve on the board with the Dean of the NB undergrad program and am heavily involved in the SASHP Programming board.
In terms of RUAIR, you will be hearing from me about weekly meetings, events, and trips. I consider myself an approachable person; if there is anything I can help you with, whether it’s AIR related or not, please ask.
