Rutgers University Association of International Relations

Welcome to the
Rutgers University

Association of International Relations

                                                              Letter from the President

Welcome to RUAIR!

The Rutgers University Association of International Relations is Rutgers’ foremost arena for anything and everything relating to international affairs, current events, politics, policy, discussion, debate, and the United Nations. It is a fixture on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus and attracts people of all types regardless of major, minor, age, or experience. All you need in order to be a part of AIR is a passion for learning, for our organization and a willingness to make a group of close-knit friends that will last you well beyond your college years! Most members also love to debate, speak publicly, travel with friends to cities all over the country (and abroad) and meet college students from every corner of the globe, as well as learn more about and discuss current events.

RUAIR is an organization dedicated to future leaders looking to gain experience within the realm of international affairs. We meet once a week to discuss and debate topics and we also organize international-focused events on campus. In addition, we attend Model UN conferences at various universities where we compete against college students from around the world to receive awards for our debate and diplomatic prowess. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, explore international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

As President of RU AIR for the 2010-2011 term, I encourage anyone and everyone with an interest in international relations, policy, debate, travel, or just an interest in meeting smart people and making good friends to come to a meeting and become a member of one of the fastest-growing and most exciting organizations on campus. Joining RU AIR and Model UN as a freshman was one of the best choices I made in college, and it is an experience I would not want any of you to miss out on. This year, we have our sights set high, with an ambitious agenda and an opportunity to have our most successful year since RU AIR’s inception decades ago. Come be a part of the transformation! Come be a part of RU AIR history! I promise you will make new friends and maybe learn something about the world and about yourself along the way.

Regards,
Egzon Gashi

President
