One of RUAIR's primary objectives is fostering informed discussion on international relations among the Rutgers student population. To this end, RUAIR hosts weekly policy forums every Tuesday from 9-10PM in Frelinghuysen Hall Room A4, open to all Rutgers students. Each forum focuses on a different issue in foreign affairs. Attendees have the opportunity to voice their opinions on a variety of important and controversial subjects. Previous meetings have covered issues such as the Ukraine crisis, the impact of multinational corporations on Africa, climate change, and the role of the United States in the global arena. RUAIR has also hosted an array of speakers with distinguished careers in numerous fields including with the foreign service, NGOs, and in academia.
In addition to weekly policy forums, RUAIR also hosts on-campus crisis simulations through its Model United Nations program. These simulations give students the opportunity to learn about global issues through the eyes of the actors involved while simultaneously improving skills in critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, and public speaking.
