A Week In Model UN

Introduction:

Our club has three types of standard meetings during the regular school year: International Relations Forum, Model UN practice, and Open Executive Board Meetings. All are integrated together to help our members become well-rounded participants in international relations and debate. Each month will have a common theme that is connected to our monthly tryouts. We will be putting up on the website our monthly syllabus in advance

International Relations Forum - Each week we will have a International Relations Forum led by our President and Vice President and supported by our E-Board and other active members. The meetings will start with a presentation about a topic by either an Executive Board Member or possibly a volunteer from the membership about a specific topic in international relations. Afterwards we will have a discussion and Q+A on the topic. The goal for these meetings to help create not just good speakers and debaters, but also well informed ones.

Model UN Practice - Model UN practice will be led by our Head Delegates and backed by the rest of E-Board. They will be taking the topics discussed in the prior International Relations Forum and using them to foster debate and speaking. Each meeting will focus on one or two debate skills. Delegates of all skill levels are encouraged to come - after a quick introduction and roll-call we will be dividing our delegates based on experience to have tailored lessons. For returning and experienced delegates we will try to create a mentorship program with newer delegates to keep our experienced delegates engaged and active.

Open Executive Board Meetings - E-Board meetings will be held in a townhall style open for all to come (unless otherwise closed for a preannounced reason). This meeting will replace a Forum or Practice meeting at the end of each month, and will be focused solely on the state of the club and making improvements
